As you all know GRM Records has always tried to stay ahead of the curve. Welcome to what I feel is the the future of commercial music. More and more everyday people are reverting to the internet to receive their music. It is so easy and only getting easier to access your music anywhere at anytime you want it via the internet. Keeping up with our commitment to moving to the direction less traveled we will be posting premium content that will be sponsored by advertisers. We are excited about this new venture and we wanted to take time to post some questions and answers to better help the fans understand where they fit into all of this and how this is so great for you!
Who are your sponsors and advertisers?
The same people you are familiar with! Trusted businesses and retailers such as Target, Memorex and Microsoft. All of our advertisers offer the highest quality products and services. Feel confident that they are the best of the best!
I don't see any ads on your website? Where are they?
That's because we only use ads to sponsor PREMIUM content. This would be full streaming songs (we call them Web Singles), lyrics or any content that normally Darren would make a profit off of in other arenas.
How is this good for me?
You can listen to Darren's music 100% guilt free at darrenfarris.com! You don't have to illegally download or wait until the song falls into rotation at your local radio station. It is here! No 30 second samples, now downloading or waiting.
So I don't have to buy Darren's music on itunes, Amazon or...?
What ? Are you crazy? Of course you should! That is always the best way to support Darren's music. A music purchase is a vote for that artist! This is just an alternative and conjunctive way to support Darren's music.
What does this change?
Nothing for you. Just us. Our sponsored ads are not intrusive and are from the best retailers and service providers only. This is no different than when you listen to music on the radio. The sponsors and advertisers pay for thier ads to be heard between the songs on the radio. It's the same philosophy.
What made you decide to do this?
We wanted to do this with the launch of Psychopathic Issues back in 2008. Although we saw the music industry headed to this, we felt at that time, Darren's fan base was not sufficient to warrant such a bold move. Thanks to the success of Jenna, Save Me and Darren's growing presence this is no longer a barrier.
Here are some other reasons:
Jenna was one of the most pirated songs of 2008! There are millions of people who have a copy of Jenna on their computer or ipod and they got it for free off the net and that was with most of the major file sharing sites cooperating with us when we asked them to remove Darren's music! Hopefully this will be an alternative to pirating Darren's music online. Or at least file sharers will decided to support Darren's music by streaming it here in conjunction with their pirated copy. We aren’t anti-file sharing if at some point they try to promote Darren or intend to purchase Darren's music at some point. We understand how convenient it is and how frustrated listeners are with the music industry. Keep in mind Darren is one of the good guys in music!
Did you know that GRM Records makes more money from one ad supported stream on darrenfarris.com than we make if the song is played over 1000 times on a radio station! Where do you think we are going to focus our attention going forward?
Will you stop promoting Darren's music to radio?
No, we just are not as concerned with it as we once were. We appreciate all the radio stations, websites and social media that play Darren's music! However, we are going to be removing Darren's music from streaming sources that are ad supported and do not share ad revenues! We are going to be putting all of our focus on getting you guys to come here to get you Farris Fix! Why wouldn't we? Darren has the best fans in the world and Darren has fans all over the world. We know that they will come out and support Darren!
Does it hurt Darren when I listen to his music on Youtube or other streaming sources?
No of course not, we think those are great places for people to find out about Darren! However, we would rather you choose to stream here.
