"... I had actually had the melody dancing around in my head for years. A couple of days before I was set to go into the studio, I was reading about Myspace. I had never heard of it before and everyone in the entertainment biz was talking about it so obviously I couldn't ignore it any longer. When I was checking it out I was sort taken back at all the things that people revealed about themselves for the whole world to see, and the little clicks they belonged to. It really gave me this sinking feeling at first because I guess I had lived in my sheltered universe so long. As I was clicking the x-close on my browser, I just said out loud to myself, "Man everyone want's to be a part of something." The song just wrote itself after that. It was funny because in the studio Chris was at the sound board when I finished recording the lead vocals and he turned around and looked at me with that gentle Brit dialect in full spirit, and said, "You know, as I was listening to you sing, I began to think about how EVERYONE wants to be a part of something... '"

"...Like all the characters from my music, Ryan was or is a real person, I just change the names to protect the innocent and not so innocent. We were friends from elementary school until he left this world. At many points growing up, he was my only real friend. We did so many crazy things, we were a modern day Huck and Tom. Someday the story has to be written! His passing was such a pivotal point in my life. I had never lost someone that close before. It really woke me up from this sort of apathetic nightmare that I had allowed myself to creep into. I can't or maybe I won't explain it, but it's the sole reason I am here right now, doing what I do..."

" ...Yeah, I actually sampled a rain drip from my roof in to a puddle on the ground to get that cool sound. Obviously I ran it though a processor to make it sound cool. That drop of rain was the last instrument added to the song. The whole album is full of little things like that, buried deep in the mix for those people who want to have something to do once they get bored with the song. I love doing that sort of thing to make the record more personal. ... "

TRIVIA:

Part of Something the single was released in Ireland in 2008 and was on several charts including #1 song in Ireland on Youtube. Part of Something was set to be released in the U.S. but Darren rejected the idea due to references in the song to his father who had passed away the same month.

Pop Singer Darren Farris Says 100% for 7 Days goes to Haiti Relief

Los Angeles singer-songwriter Darren Farris says that he is deeply saddened about the loss of life due to the 2010 Haitian earthquake destruction and pledges 100% for 7 days to the Haitian people.

Los Angeles, CA, January 18, 2010 -- American pop singer Darren Farris announced that he is donating 100% of the proceeds from all physical and digital sales of his current album, Psychopathic Issues this week to a Haiti relief fund.

According to Farris' spokesman, Gordon Levine, "Like most anyone who has any type of compassion for mankind, Darren is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life in Haiti. Darren has been a long time supporter of various children's charities and child safety awareness. For someone like him, I am sure that part of the tragedy cuts the deepest. We just hope that this will do some good for the Haitian people."

Farris is currently putting the final touches on his upcoming album only known as The DPZ Project, which missed the target release date of January 1st, 2010. The album Psychopathic Issues, as well as tracks, such as the hit songs "Jenna" and "Save Me" can be purchased at most leading retailers, including iTunes and Amazon. 100% of the proceeds from every download or physical purchase until January 28th, 2010 will go to the Salvation Army Haiti Relief Fund.

Personally, I especially think of the parents and children who have lost a mommy, daddy, son, daughter, sister or brother. We can replace our "things" but we can never replace those special people who make our lives worthwhile.
